Winner of the Prague Fringe New Territories Award 2016, runner-up for Best Regular Spoken Word Night by the Saboteur Awards and recommended by The Guardian: the Loud Poets are a force to be reckoned with.
The spoken word scene in the UK has steadily been growing over the past few years, with more and more people discovering poetry in all its forms. Loud Poets has been at the forefront of this expanding interest, evolving from a quirky performance night at the fringes of the Scottish poetry scene into a bastion for new and diverse poetic voices, and Scotland’s only regular performance focussed poetry night. Their self-styled ‘spoken word revolution’ comes with a simple objective: to showcase the best in spoken word entertainment, and to bring poetry to the masses. In the past two years Loud Poets has done just that by setting up regular performance nights in both Edinburgh and Glasgow. In 2014 they put on their first Edinburgh Fringe show, and since then they have taken their brand of accessible and dynamic poetry to the Brighton Fringe (2015 & 2016) and recently to the Prague Fringe festival (2016), and they show no signs of stopping.
